Has anyone else taken Clomid and Progesterone and did it work? My doctor just prescribed Clomid and Progesterone. We've been trying for about 8 months. The clomid is for the beginning of my cycle and the progesterone is for the 2nd half of my cycle. Has anyone else also taken this combination and how did it work out?

Jr's mommy replied: "I was on that combo and it worked for my the first time. Hope it goes as good for u. Good Luck"

Jessica E replied: "I did take both. Just the same as you. I did get pregnant, but I miscarried right away. That was years ago. But I am now 8 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby and it was all on it's own! No meds! :)"

in the woodznotthahood replied: "Im on my 3rd round of clomid 100mg.I have a progesterone problem .The reason i couldnt conceive is because it was low.But they didnt prescribe me progesterone.Just provera to start my period. Then when i ovulated the first tim eon clomid it came on its on.Clomid doesnt work every round mine worked the first and not the sec/"

dreamcatcher3355 replied: "I just had a cycle with clomid and progesterone shots. It didn't work though. I have gotten pregnant doing hcg with progesterone and with clomid by itself."

will 50mg clomid work to help me pregnant if im really overweight? Hello,im 129kg but also big boned but my gyno put me on 50mg clomid for 3 months.Ive only just started it but wonder if anyone knows if it will work because of my weight?I only got it because i asked for it other than that my gyno told me to come back for help to concieve when ive lost weight to help me ovulate.I know i need to lose weight but i felt hurt because lots of big people get help and or have babies.

Ash replied: "Yes, you do need to lose weight because it can cause infertility. Give it a shot, if it doesn't work they can increase it. While your trying diet alittle and exercise more, it may help. Yes I know its sad, I feel that way everytime I hear a 16 & under girl gets pregnant. Why them, why not me? Its normal. Good luck."

Amanda D replied: "i will tell you what my dr told me....you need to lose the weight first, so many complications can happen if you are over weight and get pregnant. most serious is pre eclampsia. and yah i get pissed off at the over weight ppl who get pregnant and SEEM to have healthy pregnancies. but its better to be safe, because in the long run it will be better for you all the way around....i know its not really the answer your looking for (it wasnt one i wanted to hear either) gl"

snellspa replied: "Dr can be so rude... you are "buying" their service it they don't treat you well ...change Dr's. I am not overweight but I had to take 150mg of clomid to ovulate. You should be charting your basal temp. to see if clomid is working."

If clomid does not work, what is the next step? My doctor mentioned injections. I have been TTC # 1 for a while and was wondering what happens next if clomid does not work. I am in Spain, so the medical system is not great at communicating! They just do it! If clomid does not work (on cycle 4) we will take a break off TTC for a few months but then start trying again.

PortuguesePrincess TTC # 1 replied: "im not sure but i would speak with the doctor"

Rhea replied: "The drug Letrozole (Femara) works for some women who don't respond well to clomid. I am currently on letrozole cycle #1 so it's too early to tell if it is going to work but I hope so! Taking a break sounds good too to relieve the stress of conceiving. Alot of babies are conceived on breaks! Also, acupuncture may be helpful to balance your overall system."

Terry O replied: "Try natural ovulation stimulation. It did it for us. Send me Answers email if you want me to send you my story about it."

Home ovulation kit to determine ovulation after clomid, do they work? Does the home ovulation kits work for people with PCOS to determine if there is ovulation after taking clomid and metformin?

Sandy replied: "I've read on the packages of some ovulation predictor kits that PCOS can affect the tests, but I have PCOS and they work just fine for me. I'm taking 500mg of Metformin 2x a day and 100mg of Clomid. The first 3 months on 50mg I wasn't ovulating, but last month on 100mg OPK's showed I did indeed ovulate. Good luck!!"

HONEYB1 replied: "I don't have PCOS but ovulation kits with Clomid didn't work for me. One cycle I got 12 days straight of positive ovulation tests. Then one cycle I didn't get any positives but I did ovulate that cycle. I guess you can try it and see. I would recommend checking ovulation also with charting your basal body temp as well. That way you can see if the ovulation kits match up. Best wishes ttc!!!"

Stephanie replied: "Yep, they do."

How long does Clomid take to work? Hey, my doctor just prescribed me Clomid yesterday, and I'm just wanting to hear other's experiences on it. I'm a little nervous, because it's not a cheap drug, and I really really want it to work. Right now I'm on a 50mg per day dosage, and if that doesn't work I have another pre ion for a 100mg dosage. If you'd just share your experiences on this drug, it would be much appreciated.

Pippin replied: "It never worked at all for me. (I didn't ovulate on it -- needed stronger meds.) If you do ovulate, you're dealing, basically, with the same dice roll any other ovulatory woman faces. There's about a 20-30% chance of getting pregnant in any given cycle. So you may get pregnant the first month. Or it may take 5-6 months. (Most docs don't want you to use Clomid for more than 6 months.) Good luck."

Hopeful replied: "I've been working on this drug for about 8 months now. It's been pretty hard. Some people have hardly any side effects, but for me, they've been kind of hard to deal with. I don't want to scare you - just want to be honest. One of the things I found hardest to deal with was the constant upset stomach. Check with your doctor before taking my advice, but I found that taking ginger pills (just the natural herb supplement) really helped calm my stomach during the 5 days I take the drug. In spite of this, I hope that all this will be well worth it at some point. Best of luck to you! Edit: The other poster who said docs don't usually want you on it for more than 6 months is right - but my doctor has said he doesn't want me on it for more than 6 months at the right dosage(where I ovulate). Part of my 8 months have been trying to find the right dosage where I consistently ovulate."

graceisenough replied: "It really depends on the person... It can work right away, and for some it will never work. Just try to stay relaxed, and don't stress. Try to not even think about it (yeah, right). Some women have really bad side effects, and can barely handle to put that pill past their lips because it just makes them sick. But not everyone. It may take awhile for you to get pregnant, because perhaps your dosage is too low. You're doctor will probably up your dosage again if the two that you have don't work for you. Hopefully though Clomid is your best friend, and all will work out!"

Keira's Mom replied: "I have very irregular cycles they last for over 30 days. Clomid worked for me the first time i used it. I did end up having a miscarriage at 10 weeks I then had a D&C. I then gave myself a month break and tried it again and it worked perfectly! I now have a beautiful 14 month old little girl. I recommend it! Wishing you the best of luck ****Baby Dust****"

Katie E replied: "Clomid is evil. i was on and off it for two years and it NEVER worked. I never ovulated, not once. The tried different dosages, everything else. Side effects were absolutly horrible for me. Dry mouth, constipation, hot-flashes, mood-swings and then i have to have sex while feeling this way. nice. eventually went to the doc and told him I could NOT do this anymore. He prescribed me Letrozole. I ovulated the very first month (and got pregnant on third cycle). Had very, very little side effects AND it was covered by health care because it is technically used to treat breast cancer (happens to have the side effect of fertility). anyhow, it is an alternative if you don't like clomid."

Bit-by-Bit replied: "I am back on Clomid 100mg right now and if it doesn't work this month going up to 150. It has been over a year since I have been on clomid due to changing docs and taking a 6 month break from ttc. After changing docs I did take Femara which is used for breast cancer patients and it was more expensive than clomid. No side effects but I did ovulate on it. Anyway, I take my clomid at night before I go to bed and I think it might help with the side effects. I do have hot flashes like crazy but they ususally start about the 3rd day of taking it and last until about a week after ovulation. No luck on it yet but I have faith and not ready to give up yet. Good luck to you!!!"

How often does Clomid work in the first cycle? My husband and I have been trying for over a year. We are now on Clomid because my doc doesn't think I am ovulating. I have very regular cycles though. I am hoping to hear some sucess stories for Clomid use. :) BTW my hubby had a sperm analysis and his numbers are good.

dee4rad replied: "ask my set of 8 yr old twins...lol I took 6 small pills on Sept 25th. Oct 21st my preg test said YESSSSSSSSSS. I only used the sample packs my dr gave me. Didn't even have time to fill . I wasn't ovulating either. Ovulation count should have been like 35ish mine was 11. It DOES work!!! Good luck honey!"

Marie replied: "I took clomid for the standard 6 months and no luck. I have proceeded onto more advanced invasive procedures in TTC. However I have heard of success stories, it all depends on what your true cause is and how healthy each person is. I wish you the best, good luck!"

Bubbles replied: "I have just finished my first dose of clomid and we are praying that Im pregnant. Im waiting to test now. Good LUck to you."

chrisj0j0 replied: "I have polycystic ovaries so don't ovulate. My partner and I were trying to fall pregnant for nearly a year before I started on clomid. First cycle and I fell pregnant, and am now mum to a 10 week old little girl. My cycles were also as regular as clockwork, but I found my periods were very light and only lasted for about 3 days. Keep your fingers crossed, and if clomid doesn't work first cycle, try again next month."

How long does it take for clomid to work?? How long does it take for clomid to work?? Because my husband and I are having baby fever bad and cant hardly wait to get pregnant. My doc is putting me on clomid soon im hoping this will work for us ASAP

beejay replied: "clomid works within first cycle of being on it ...it helps with folicle production............ most take it for 6 months ...good luck"

Lola replied: "Well, you will feel symptoms right away, the day after you take the pills. But i think what you are asking is the success rate? it's about 60%. Most doctor allow 3-6 cycles before switching to a more agressive form of infertility treatment."

Heather replied: "depends on the couple, it took my husband and I 7 months of clomid."

$ouThChyk replied: "I was on clomid 50 mg for 1 month did not ovulate. Doc up dosage and I started taking 100mg, and got preg with a beautiful baby girl the very next month."

Can clomid work one cycle and not the next? My first cycle of clomid worked, this month no period and negative pregnancy test 3 days late. Did the Clomid not work??

~hoping for baby~ replied: "I was on clomid for 3 different 6 month rounds and every month I was on it I would have a very regular period. But as soon as I stopped taking it, no period once again. Wait a few more days and test again!"

How does Clomid work for infertility problems or other methods??? Hello Ive been trying to conceive for the past year and no luck!!! Im getting very depressed! How does that Clomid medecine work?? And what are the other methods that are used for theses cases??? Please help!

replied: ""

If clomid didnt work before could it the second time? I took clomid for 6 months and was up to 200 mgs and I even ovulated everytime but I did not get pregnant. If I tried it again could it work or is that a waste??

Tina replied: "So long as the Clomid is making you ovulate, you have clear tubes, good eggs and a partner with a good count, you have a chance . . . But you should discuss this with your doctor in more detail. Many doctors do not want you to do that many cycles due to the increased risk for ovarian cancer. There might be other treatment options that are better suited for you. Good luck and loads of baby dust for you."

ncute replied: "hey there definitely can..since u r ovulating then definitely u can be..also please do check ur tubes and ur partners count coz that also counts in proper fertilization. Keep exercising for staying healthy and keep ur food diet to more of fruits and veggies :) Good luck dear :)"
